Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. Nobody ever worries about Halloween. It gives us the perfect excuse to get creative and dress up as whatever we want to be. The beautiful autumn weather, pumpkins, costumes, decorations, and monster mashes… there are so many great things about Halloween! Well, except the fact that it is centered around sugary candy. Witches and Ghosts will be roaming the streets with pillow cases full of sugar, one of the culprits of many modern diseases.
Get creative with your little witches and ghosts. Here are a few hauntingly healthy Halloween treats you can make with the kids or your friends.
Gnarly Apple Bites
Ingredients: apples and slivered almonds
Directions: Just quarter and core an apple, cut a wedge from the skin side of each quarter, then press slivered almonds in place for teeth.
Creeper Peeper Edible Eyeballs
Ingredients: Carrots, pitted olives, and cream cheese
Directions: slice carrots into 1-inch-thick chunks, top each with a blob of cream cheese and one half of a pitted black olive.
Frightful Skull
Ingredients: Pear, blueberries, almonds
Directions: Cut the pear in a skull shape, place blueberries on the pear for eyes and nose, use a almond as the mouth
